The Agroecology Group of the Institute of Plant Sciences of the Sant'Anna School of Pisa is organizing the Open Day "Agroecology at the Center" on "The Role of Functional Biodiversity in Agroecosystems" on June 4, in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural, Food and Agro-Environmental Sciences of the University of Pisa and the Agro-Environmental Research Center "Enrico Avanzi",  to learn more about agroecology topics.

The event, now in its seventh year, is held at the Avanzi Center, Via Vecchia di Marina, 6 - Pisa, and is an opportunity open to anyone interested to talk with researchers and visit experimental fields. The initiative includes opportunities to learn more about the interactions between agricultural crops and wild and cultivated biodiversity. Three specific tracks will be organized to reflect on the role of diversification in agriculture at the genetic level, at the level of cultivated species, and at the landscape level.

The researchers participating in the event wish to tell and demonstrate to the public and professionals in the field what aspects characterize agroecology and the benefits it can bring to farmers, consumers and the environment, with the hope of receiving useful feedback for future research, which is always based, in good agroecological tradition, on observations and suggestions received from local stakeholders.
